Takahashi started producing telescopes in 1967, and their first model was the TS-65. The TS80 developed in April of 1972 was the first tiplet apochromat Takahashi telescope created. Then in 1973 they designed their 1st equatorial mount that has a polar telescope. It was in 1977 that Takahashi unveiled their 2nd triplet fluorite apochromat the TS-90 and the remarkable JP mount was introduced in 1979. Takahashi Seisakusho of Tokyo, Japan has been producing fluorite apochromatic refracting telescopes since they introduced the 90mm f/10 FC-90 in 1979, named The NJP mount. Only six years later in 1983, Takahashi presented the Epsilon Series of Hyperbolic flat field astrographs with the 130, 160, 200, 250 and 300.Takahashi was able to enhance the process for grinding hyperbolic mirrors for its state-of-the-art Epsilons, like the Epsilon 180, and revised RC astrographs.
Takahashi released the camera angle adjuster, camera or ocular to this rotator instrument that rotates 360?without loss of focus is still in use today. All of the Takahashi focusers focus from the 2″ to 4″ and all astrographs. Takahashi also offers a compression ring ocular holder to provide precise centering of the ocular and optics of the telescope. Then, in 1983 another item was launched, the prototype FCT-150 fluorite triplet apochromat and the revolutionary EM-2000 mount which made use of electric clutches and had an absolute read out of R.A. and Dec. In 1985, the Mewlon Series Dall-Kirkham Cassegrain telescope was the next in a range of sizes including; 180, Mewlon 210, Mewlon 250 and Mewlon 300mm were introduced together with the CN-212, a convertible 212mm classical Cassegrain f/12 and corrected Newtonian convertible telescope.
